This technical assistance ongoing project includes: determination of the goals, strategies and methodologies for Spanish cooperation in microfinance; development of Diagnostic Studies and General Approach Proposals for the countries defined as priority by the Spanish Government; selection and analysis of counterpart institutions, as well as the negotiation, due diligence and structuring of the specific transactions with these; training of AECID’s microfinance unit; and organization of the monitoring system of the microfinance cooperation.

Currently, the economic resources allocates under this program exceed 600 million euros, allocated in more than 70 institutions in 30 countries in America, Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe.

NODUS was awarded this project for the period between August 2006 and July 2008, which later was extended to April 2011. In the previous contract, 2000 to 2006, the project was undertaken basically by the same team of consultants, also under the direction of Armando Muriel, although under a different company.
